Cyan Racing and WestCoast Racing pair up for 2016 STCC

Volvo Polestar’s factory team in the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship will be co-managed from 2016 with main rivals WestCoast Racing, with WestCoast Racing dropping its BMW programme to assist them in running their two Volvo S60 Polestars.

WestCoast Racing have competed with the BMW 3 series throughout their history in the STCC, but with no financial support from the German marque for the last couple of years, they will now make the switch to a joint operation with Cyan Racing, which was formerly known as Polestar Racing.

“We are delighted to support Cyan Racing in their STCC programme and we look forward to the 2016 season,” said WestCoast Racing CEO said Dick Jönsson-Wigroth. “This is a cooperation that we hope to evolve for the future.”

Cyan Racing will be splitting its attention for 2016 with its new programme in the World Touring Car Championship, where it will run a pair of TC1 Volvo S60s with drivers which are yet to be announced. Cyan Racing will also continue its engine supply programme in the V8 Supercars Championship.

For its STCC programme, Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte is the only driver named so far, with his team-mate for next season still to be announced.

“We have raced against each other since 1996 and we are glad to start a new cooperation together,” said Cyan Racing CEO Christian Dahl on the relationship with WestCoast Racing. “This is a key part to our expansion of racing in three championships next year and something for us to further build on together with WestCoast Racing for the future,” he added.
