16-year-old Florian Janits to drive for Team Engstler

Florian Janits is going to drive for Liqui Moly Team Engstler in the TCR International Series at Salzburgring in Austria this weekend.

“I’m very much looking forward to this opportunity!” said Janits.

The 16-year-old has never before raced a front-wheel driven touring car, coming from Formula Renault and Formula 4.

“I have only raced formula cars in previous years, where I learned a lot. So being back on the track in the TCR International Series makes me very excited. I have never raced a front-wheel driven touring car before, but this does not worry me at all!” said Janits.

Janits will join Davit Kajaia at Team Engstler who claimed his first podium finish in the previous race at Imola.

Janits takes over from Jordi Gené in the team’s Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, who filled in at Imola after the team’s previous driver Mikhail Grachev switched to WestCoast Racing.
