Johan Kristoffersson claims first SEAT pole since 2008

Johan Kristoffersson claimed SEAT’s first STCC pole position since 2008 in today’s qualifying at Anderstorp.

The SEAT Dealer Team PWR Racing driver was fastest in both sessions, Q1 and Q2, setting a time just one tenth from the qualifying lap record.

Q1 saw Kristoffersson beating championship leader Robert Dahlgren by four tenths of a second while Emma Kimiläinen made a strong comeback in third position, 0.852 seconds from pole.

Flash Engineering driver Björn Wirdheim was fourth fastest ahead of four-time STCC champion Richard Göransson in fifth position, more than one second from Kristoffersson’s time.

The one-lap Q2 session had Kristoffersson again beating Dahlgren, this time only by 0.128 seconds.

Göransson made it two Volvos in the top three, claiming position three, 0.273 seconds from Kristoffersson.

Wirdheim was fourth fastest ahead of Kimiläinen and Dacia Dealer Team driver Mattias Andersson in sixth position. Daniel Haglöf was slowest of the Q2 drivers in seventh position as Flash Engineering driver Reuben Kressner was unable to complete his lap due to technical issues.

The Q1 session awards points to the championship, with Dahlgren extending his lead over team mate Göransson to 15 points while Kristoffersson gained slightly in third, 49 points adrift.

The first race of the weekend starts at 13:00 CET tomorrow.
