Angry Robert Dahlgren expects more panel bashing in STCC finale

The STCC weekend at Solvalla saw an internal and physical Polestar Cyan Racing fight on track between team-mates Richard Göransson and Robert Dahlgren. The fight left Dahlgren angry and expecting more of the same in the season final at Knutstorp.

”I am from the north of Sweden, so I am bullheaded and rarely forget. I can pretend to be happy, but the car is likely going to be damaged again at Knutstorp, but hopefully still in one piece so I can finish the race,” said Dahlgren.

The two were involved in a tough fight in the first race of the Solvalla weekend, with Göransson hitting Dahlgren from behind several times, ultimately resulting in a fire and retirement for Dahlgren as the bodywork rubbed against the rear tyres.

”I was hit from behind from Richard a couple of times and there was some smoke from the car. Then I was hit again and it caught fire, forcing me to stop,” said Dahlgren.

The stewards took no action on the incident, seeing Göransson finishing fourth to extend his championship lead after the weekend from 11 to 22.

”These are things that happen. He (Dahlgren) is of course not happy with me. I am definitely not happy with what happened. But we are both so professional that we know that no one would do it on purpose, there were a lot of strange circumstances that made things go the way they did,” said Göransson.

The STCC season finale takes place at Knutstorp on September 23-24th.
