Rob Huff signed up at Team WRT for the TCR International Series

Rob Huff will drive for Team WRT for the majority of the TCR International Series season, joining Jean-Karl Vernay in the team’s second Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR from the next round at Spa-Francorchamps onwards.

Huff made his debut with the team month in a one-off appearance in the TCR Benelux series, sharing a car with Vernay during the weekend. The pair scored four podiums on Sunday and took a substantial points haul from the weekend, despite no plans for further outings in the Belgian series.

The 37-year-old will however be back behind the wheel of the Golf GTI for seven of the remaining eight races in the TCR International Series, supporting Vernay’s bid for the championship, with Vernay leading the standings by a point after two races.

“It’s fantastic to join Leopard Racing Team WRT in this year’s TCR International Series,” said Huff.

“The deal came after the Benelux race event, which was a success despite having to discover a new team, a new car and category. I had a great time getting to know the team last weekend at Spa, and I think we’re going to have a great rest of the season together.

“TCR is also a brilliant championship to be involved in. There’s a lot of future touring car talent rising up through there, and also great door-to-door racing. As the levels of the cars are balanced, it’s a lot less about the car but the driver.”

Huff will miss the round immediately after Spa at Monza in Italy due to clashing commitments in the WTCC with Münnich Motorsport.
