Daniel Haglöf breaks KMS stronghold in second Knutstorp practice

Daniel Haglöf set the fastest time in second practice for the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season-opener at Knutstorp.

The PWR driver took his SEAT León to a time of 1:00.992 to break the stronghold of KMS’ Fredrik Ekblom by 0.116s.

Robert Dahlgren ensured PWR finished the final session before qualifying with two cars inside the top three.

Much like first practice, Dahlgren set the early pace from LMP Engineering’s Niklas Lilja, with the latter setting the fastest overall times in the first and second sectors and eventually ending the session in fourth.

Ekblom on the other hand, took time to get his VW Golf GTI up to speed and only set a fully representative time after half an hour of the one-hour session gone. The KMS driver soon showed his hand and leaped up to the top of the times with a 1:00.744 to go 0.03s faster than Dahlgren.

Team-mate Haglöf spent half the session languishing in the lower regions of the top 10 but hooked up a superb lap to beat Ekblom by nearly 0.2s. The PWR man didn’t set an overall best in any of the three sectors but found enough time in the first part of the lap to finish top.

Keeping up their earlier pace, Micke Ohlsson and Tobias Brink took their Audi Rs3 LMS cars to fifth and sixth respectively, with Reuben Kressner in the Brovallen Design Audi recovering from a poor morning session to finish 10th.

As was the case in the opening session, reigning Clio Series champion Marcus Annervi spent a large chunk of time in the pits at the start of second practice. Frustrated by a lack of consistency in the tyres in the morning, managed to bounce back before the end of the session to set the 12th fastest time.

Qualifying for the opening races of the season at Knutstorp begins at 15:30 CET
