Luke Davenport, Jeff Smith “serious but stable” following Croft incident
BTCC organisers TOCA have confirmed that both Luke Davenport and Jeff Smith are in a serious but stable condition at the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough following the multi-car accident during qualifying at Croft.
The pair were amongst ten drivers to be caught up in the incident that occurred in the early stages of the session after Davenport’s Ford Focus dropped oil on the circuit.
Both were airlifted to hospital having been extricated from their cars for further treatment and assessment.
Davenport remains in intensive care in a induced coma this morning, having suffered multiple chest injuries, lung damage, broken right leg, broken pelvis, broken right arm and concussion.
Smith meanwhile has suffered multiple chest injuries, extensive shoulder injuries and concussion.
Triple Eight’s Aron Taylor-Smith had been expected to remain in hospital overnight but was released late last night, having suffered a fractured leg and concussion.

Following the multi-car accident during qualifying for Round 13 of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Croft, three drivers were taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough for further treatment.
We can confirm that;
Aron Taylor-Smith (#40 MG Racing RCIB Insurance) suffered a fracture to his left leg and concussion. He was closely monitored in hospital and was released late last night.
Luke Davenport (#300 Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Duo) is currently in intensive care in an induced coma, and is in a serious but stable condition, with multiple chest injuries, lung damage, broken right leg, broken pelvis, broken right arm and concussion.
Jeff Smith (#55 Eurotech Racing) is in a serious but stable condition, with multiple chest injuries, extensive shoulder injuries and concussion.
All of the above injuries, whilst very serious, are not immediately life threatening.
