Francisco Mora extends his lead in the TCR Iberian series after Portimao

Veloso Motorsport driver Francisco Mora strengthened his lead in the TCR Iberian series after dominating both races at Portimao last weekend.

The reigning TCR Portugal champion, driving a SEAT León TCR in the series, has now 74 points to his account, with Audi drivers Patrick Cunha and Rafael Lobato both 14 behind on 60. Six points further behind in the classification is Team Novadriver’s Francisco Abreu, who races with the sole Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR in the championship, and was Mora’s main rival for victory at the Algarve track.

“This was a great day for me and fortunately the whole team worked very well,” said Mora. “I leave here with the targets completely fulfilled and with an extended lead of the championship, so I could not have asked for more. In the races everything went perfectly, I was fast and consistent, I made few mistakes and so the victories came naturally.”

Faust Salom, driving for Baporo Motorsport in a SEAT León TCR shared with Gustavo Moura, is the best-plcaed of the Spanish competitors, ninth in the standings on 24 points.
