New car on its way to keep Rob Huff on the grid in Hungary

Rob Huff will be on the grid this weekend at the Hungaroring, despite a high-speed roll on Sunday at the Salzburgring which wrote-off his Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR, with a new car en route to the circuit just in time for the race weekend.

The timing will be tight for the Team WRT squad, who are already busy repairing the #2 Volkswagen Golf of Huff’s team-mate Jean-Karl Vernay, who suffered a similar fate six laps later in the race, with his car also suffering a puncture at the Fahrenlagerkurve and slamming into the barriers.

While Vernay’s car is repairable, Huff’s car, known as “Angelique” by its other drivers Maxime Potty and Mathieu Detry in the TCR Benelux series, has been confirmed as being beyond repair by the team.

A brand-new Golf is on its way directly to WRT’s temporary workshop near the Hungaroring from SEAT Sport’s base in Martorell, Spain, with the team left with a short turnaround to prepare the car and then, with partners Grafiwrap, relivery the car in sponsors Leopard Racing’s colours for the race.
