Marcus Annervi ruled out of race three with broken head gasket

Marcus Annervi’s Solvalla weekend is over after he was forced to miss the second race with a broken head gasket on his Rent-a-Wreck Honda Civic.

Despite showing promising pace in qualifying on Friday – tenth for race one and eighth for the second race – Annervi’s weekend unravelled in a scrappy first race on Saturday.

The 20-year-old was involved in a number of skirmishes during a frantic opening race of the weekend, most notably when he tipped the Brink Motorsport Audi of Tobias Brink into a spin on the exit of Turn 2 on the second lap.

Further contact with Joonas Lappalainen and the Volkswagen of Andreas Ahlberg earned the Falkenberg-local a five-second stop-and-go penalty, dropping him to 14th by the flag.

The Rent-a-Wreck team seemed to have repaired radiator damaged sustained in race one, but further underlying problems with the cooling forced the Honda driver out of the two remaining races.

“We had a broken head gasket on the car,” Annervi told TouringCarTimes. “We managed to fix the radiator issue but maybe there was just a bit too much heat in the system and it broke.

“We don’t have enough parts or time to fix this so our weekend is over unfortunately,” continued Annervi. “But for sure, we’ll come out fighting for my home race in Falkenberg next time!”
