Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky hails ‘promising’ form after maiden points at Solvalla

Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky believes there is more performance to come from her PWR Junior Team Audi RS 3, after she scored her first STCC points in race two at Solvalla.

Having qualified 12th for all three races at the Stockholm circuit, Åhlin-Kottulinsky made significant progress through the field, including a well-judged move on Micke Ohlsson to finish eighth in Race 2, two places ahead of fellow PWR driver Daniel Haglöf.

“I’m really happy with my first points,” Åhlin-Kottulinsky told TouringCarTimes. “I also had the fourth fastest lap time which feels promising as well. It’s not an easy track to overtake so I was really just waiting for people in front to make mistakes.”

“So the key was to try and pressurise them in a mistake, but of course you have to quick enough to make the overtake when it comes too,” she added.

A resident of Stockholm, Åhlin-Kottulinsky’s maiden points-finish was especially emotional, particularly after a troubled start to her touring car career at the opening round in Knutstorp.

“That feels good as well, especially since I know we now have the pace in the car,” she said. “I’m just hoping for a good third race of the day.”

“I feel much, much better in the car than I did in Knutstorp and I now just can’t wait to get to tracks that favour the Audi a bit more,” Åhlin-Kottulinsky added.
