Ferenc Ficza given 30-second penalty for wrong grid position

Zengõ Motorsport’s Ferenc Ficza was the only driver to receive any punishment from the stewards after today’s two races at the Hungaroring, with the Kia driver given a 30-second penalty for starting out of position for Race 1.

At the start of the first race, Ficza, making the debut for Zengõ’s Kia Cee’d GT this weekend, lined up out of position and close to the rear bumper of ASK Vesnic Racing’s Milovan Vesnic’s Audi RS 3.

The start was investigated post-race and the Hungarian was given a 30-second penalty, which dropped him from 16th to 19th in the final rankings.

Ficza’s penalty was the only penalty, despite a fairly impact-heavy race two, with a first lap incident involving WRT VW’s Rob Huff, the SEAT of Stian Paulsen, WRT VW’s Jean-Karl Vernay, WestCoast Racing’s Gianni Morbidelli, GE-Force Alfa’s Davit Kajaia and Craft-Bamboo SEAT’s Dan Lloyd, with the latter three out of the race.

Other incidents including minor bumps and scrapes were investigated during the race, with no penalties forthcoming.

The technical inspection has also been completed, with no exclusions, with both races result’s confirmed as final.
