Robert Dahlgren fastest in Falkenberg warm-up

Robert Dahlgren led a PWR Racing 1-2 after setting the fastest time in the morning warm-up at Falkenberg. Dahlgren set a time of 45.166 to end the session seven-hundredths of a second quicker than SEAT team-mate Daniel Haglöf.

Race one pole-sitter Fredrik Ekblom was the best of the Kristoffersson Motorsport Volkswagens in third, some two-and-a-half tenths further back.

A relatively low-key 15-minute session produced little indication of out-right race pace as the KMS VWs opted not to set fully representative lap-times. Indeed, Dahlgren’s P1 time was only two-tenths quicker than his Q2 time yesterday which put him fourth on the grid.

Behind Ekblom, Fredrik Blomstedt, who achieved his first ever STCC pole position in Q3 headed Johan Kristoffersson.

Micke Kågered’s Andreas Ahlberg and Lestrup Racing’s Dennis Strandberg finished an encouraging sixth and seventh respectively in their VW Golf GTIs, while Nicklas Oscarsson hauled his Kia Cee’d into the top ten, behind the Audi RS 3 LMS cars of Micke Ohlsson and Reuben Kressner.

The session passed largely without incident, however Kari-Pekka Laaksonen’s running was temporarily haulted when the Finn, driving for LMS Racing locked up heavily under braking for the chicane, badly flat-spotting the front-left.

Laaksonen managed to bring his SEAT León back to the pits where he was fitted with new rubber. He ended the session just behind his team-mate Olli Kangas in 18th.

Race one at Falkenberg begins at 11:00 CEST.
