Robert Dahlgren comfortably fastest in second Anderstorp test

SEAT driver Robert Dahlgren set the quickest time in the second STCC test at Anderstorp, beating nearest championship rival Fredrik Ekblom by almost four-tenths of a second.

Points leader Dahlgren set a time of 1:38.069 in his PWR Racing SEAT León with just under a quarter of the session remaining.

A late surge from Ekblom, who seemed to struggle throughout the one-hour session, gave the Kristofersson Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI driver second ahead of team-mate Fredrik Blomstedt.

The KMS pair had to dig deep to beat the strong time of Joonas Lappalainen, who stood out for Audi by briefly holding second, and setting the quickest first and last sectors.

The Kart in Club Academy driver was the last to finish within half a second of Dahlgren in fourth place.

Having starred in the opening test, Marcus Annervi again showed impressive pace at the beginning of the second session. He comfortably sat in the top six before his session ended prematurely when his Rent-a-Wreck Honda Civic ground to a halt on the exit of Turn Four with half an hour remaining.

Audi had a much stronger second session of the day, after underwhelming in the opening test. The marque boasted three cars in the top ten, with Lappalainen leading the way in fourth. Brink Motorsport’s Tobias Brink – who was overly delayed at the weigh bridge early in the session – bounced back from a disappointing first test to finish eighth, while Reuben Kressner completed the top ten.

The Experion/Lestrup Racing of Albin Wärnelöv and Dennis Strandberg took their Volkswagen Golf GTIs to sixth and ninth respectively, albeit more than a second – in Strandberg’s case – off the leading pace of Dahlgren.

After a puncture interrupted his opening test running, Andreas Ahlberg’s challenging weekend continued as he struggled to find enough pace in the second. He finished slowest of the Volkswagens in 13th.

Next up for the STCC is qualifying, which begins at 15:30 CEST.
