Fredrik Ekblom tops final STCC warm up at Mantorp Park

Fredrik Ekblom set the fastest time in the final warm up session of the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship season finale at Mantorp Park.

Ekblom, who will start the first and second races from pole position, struck late to post a time of 1:21.659 in his Kristoffersson Motorsport Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Championship rival Robert Dahlgren, who will start each race from 11th after losing his best time from Q1, took his PWR Racing SEAT León to third, one place behind team-mate Daniel Haglöf.

Ekblom must realistically take all three race wins with Dahlgren not scoring more than one point stand a chance of taking a third STCC title. Dahlgren on the other hand, needs just two points from the weekend to claim a maiden championship crown.

There were yet more problems for Marcus Annervi in the Rent-a-Wreck Honda Civic. The reigning Clio Cup champion managed just three laps before grounding to a halt at the exit of the pitlane.
