STCC considers Norway for 2018 calendar and reversed grids

The Scandinavian Touring Car Championship might ditch Alastaro in Finland for Rudskogen in Norway for the 2018 calendar.

”We ran Porsche Carrera Cup on the track this year, it is an amazing facility and a possible option,” said Jonas Lundin, Managing Director of STCC AB until the end of September, to TT.

While the remainder of the calendar is expected to remain more or less the same as in 2017, there are plans for a new street race.

”We have also got an ambition to get a proper street race, but then it must be in a city that are willing to go all the way. We are not sure whether we will achieve that for next year,” said Lundin.

Another thing that might change for 2018 is the race format, with Lundin touching on the subject of reversed grids.

”It is very likely that there will be changes for next season. I like the reversed grid format, but we have so far not taken a decision,” said Lundin.

Lundin also stated that they expect more teams for 2018, with Opel and Alfa Romeo having shown interest.

”It is not impossible that new teams will show up. The new regulations (TCR) have started interest in Europe,” said Lundin.
