Giacomo Altoè leads the way in first practice at Adria

Target Competition’s Giacomo Altoè led the way in the first free practice session at the Adria Raceway, the circuit owned by his father, leading the way in his Honda Civic TCR ahead of the Hyundai of touring car stalwart Gabriele Tarquini.

The 17-year-old led the way through much of the session in the Honda, after having raced the Alfa Romeo, the Audi and the Volkswagen Golf this season in TCR International and the Italian series.

Tarquini deposed Altoè at the top of the time sheets just after the half-way mark with a time of 1:19.890, while Altoè grabbed the top spot back with just under ten minutes to go with a lap time of 1:19.851.

There were three marques in the top three, with Maxime Potty third fastest in the Team WRT Volkswagen Golf, just under four-tenths down.

Yesterday’s testing pace-setter Josh Files was fourth in the second of the Honda Civics entered this weekend, with TCR Iberian champion Francisco Abreu fifth in the Novadriver Volkswagen.

Antti Buri was sixth and the best-placed of the Audis running in the LMS Racing entry, with Altoè’s brother Giovanni Altoè seventh in the DSG-equipped Golf GTI.

Luigi Ferrara was eighth in the V-Action Alfa Romeo, with the DG Sport Peugeot of Aurélien Comte and the Tecnodom Opel Astra of Kevin Giacon completing the top ten.

The second free practice session is scheduled for 12:00 CET.
