Dan Lloyd out after collision with Roberto Colciago in Race 1

Dan Lloyd will miss the TCR International Series season finale after an incident in the first race at Dubai, after he, the Comtoyou SEAT of Denis Dupont, and the M1RA Honda of Roberto Colciago were involved in an incident on lap five.

Lloyd’s car is damaged beyond repair for Race 2, and so the team have opted to withdraw Lloyd’s car and focus on the two cars of Pepe Oriola and James Nash for the final race.

The British driver was non-the-wiser about the start of the incident after the crash, which is under investigation by the stewards.

“I was on the outside going into the chicane, but in the side of my vision I saw someone get hit at some real pace,” said Lloyd to TouringCarTimes. “As I was braking, I just got smacked up the rear and wiped out into the barrier. Colciago was involved, but I don’t know if it was his fault, but someone hit someone at some pace and put me out.

Roberto Colciago confirmed the other party was the Comtoyou Racing SEAT of Denis Dupont, who also retired soon after the restart, while Colciago was out with a puncture.

“When I went on the brakes and I just pushed this SEAT (of Denis Dupont),” said Colciago to TouringCarTimes. “I think he may have braked a bit too early, and there was nothing I could do. I, then I went into (Lloyd) as a consequence, it wasn’t on purpose.”
