Dušan Borković to join TCR Europe grid

Dušan Borković has announced that he will switch to the new TCR Europe series for the 2018 season.

The Serbian driver had been linked with the move into the World Touring Car Cup having spent the past two seasons racing in the TCR International Series, finishing seventh in the standings with the B3 Racing team in 2016 and then eighth last year with GE-Force.

Borković has however elected to contest the seven-round European series and will reveal more details on his programme – including the car he will drive and the team that will run it – in the coming days.

“I had a few great offers from WTCR but considering it’s a whole new competition with a lot of innovations, it was a great unknown for me and my team and a lot of risk for this season,” he said.

“My plan is to fight for podium results and the best position in the drivers’ championship. I believe this is the best opportunity for me and my sponsors. TCR Europe gives me the chance to be competitive and I can’t wait for the season to start.

“The competition will be tough, as there will be a lot of great drivers. I know some of the circuits and some I don’t, but I am always up to the challenge. I will begin testing soon, which is one of the reasons I chose TCR Europe. I will have the opportunity to prepare well, not only for this season but also for the next one.”

Borković has enjoyed success on the European stage in the past, having won the single-make trophy of the FIA European Touring Car Cup back in 2015.
