Aiden Moffat fastest in final Silverstone practice session

Aiden Moffat was fastest in the final practice session ahead of qualifying, topping the time sheets in another damp session at the Silverstone National circuit in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta, displacing WestCoast Racing’s Dan Lloyd with two minutes to go.

Lloyd had led the way through much of the session, setting a time of 1:03.922 in the practice session, just under two-tenths of a second faster than Ollie Taylor in the Team Pyro Honda Civic FK2 TCR, before Moffat went faster by just 15-thousandths of a second at the end of the 30-minute session.

Just behind them was Andreas Bäckman in the second of the WestCoast Racing Volkswagens, sister and team-mate Jessica Bäckman fifth-quickest, seven-tenths from Moffat’s reference time.

Darelle Wilson was sixth fastest in his Vauxhall Astra TCR, with Finlay Crocker just behind him in the new tenth-generation Honda Civic TCR run by VFR Racing, with Ollie Kangas the fastest of the Cupra TCRs in eighth.

Moffat’s team-mate Derek Palmer missed the second session of the day as the team are rushing to get a replacement injector installed in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta ahead of qualifying at 16:25 BST.
