Ollie Taylor delighted with strong showing on front-wheel drive debut

Pyro Motorsport’s Ollie Taylor leaves Silverstone second in the TCR UK drivers’ championship after two podium finishes with the Honda Civic Type R FK2 TCR, the first time he’s ever raced a front-wheel drive car.

Taylor had a strong run in the first race to go from fifth to third, while he followed this up with another podium finish in the second race, and is now second in the drivers’ standings behind double race winner Dan Lloyd, 25 points behind.

“It’s a good start to the year with two P3s, so two solid results,” said Taylor to TouringCarTimes.

“I had a better start in that second race as well; I was about P2 or P3 going onto the back straight, but I wasn’t looking at my inside enough and Dan (Lloyd) snuck a move on me going into Brooklands, which unsettled the car and before I knew it Aiden (Moffat) was on my other side, and once that two guys were in front of me that was a set result.

“It’s been my first race in a front-wheel drive car this weekend, so I’m learning every time I go out. And the next race in five weeks is at Knockhill, which I’ve never been to before, so hopefully the racing will be as close as it was this weekend.”
