Finlay Crocker happy with new Honda on its first UK appearance

VFR Racing’s Finlay Crocker had a strong run in the first races of the TCR UK championship at Silverstone, working his way forward from a lowly qualifying position of 11th for both races to finish sixth and ninth in the new Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR.

The Verizon Connect-backed driver had a successful first race, and put on a race-long show battling with Sean Walkinshaw Racing’s Howard Fuller, racing in the older Civic FK2, but was unable to find a way past.

“It was good. The car was much improved from yesterday, and pace-wise the car was there or thereabouts,” said Crocker to TouringCarTimes.

“We went back to where we were with the car, as we’d been making quite a lot of changes due to the limited running we’d had with the car. I guess to know what works, you have to know what doesn’t work. We’ve established a base set-up at the moment, and the car under braking is really, really good.

“We’re lacking a bit in the straight line,” he added. “I could catch Howard (Fuller) through Maggotts and Becketts, but I could never sustain the distance down the straights to have a go at him into Brooklands.”
