BMR hoping for stronger race day after tough qualifying
BMR Racing team boss Warren Scott said he was hopeful of a stronger race day for the Subaru squad after the team struggled for pace in qualifying at Thruxton.
Defending BTCC champion Ash Sutton was the best placed Levorg down in 18th spot, with Josh Price and Jason Plato both failing to make it into the top 20.
That came despite both Sutton and Plato saying they were hopeful of an improved performance from the rear-wheel drive car this weekend, with Scott insisting that there was still work to be done.
“We are hoping the gap will be smaller in the races as we aren’t where we expected to be in qualifying,” he said. “You can see from the speed trap figures that we still have some straight line speed issues.
“The car is handling okay but we need to sort that speed out. It’s a quick circuit and we don’t have what we need.
“It was a late decision for us to change the engines for this season and it is hampering us a bit at the moment. Hopefully we can be where we need to be by the mid-way point of the season and that won’t be too late for us.
“We might well get where we need to be before then, but we’ll certainly be stronger in the second half of the year.”
Plato will undergo an engine change over night as a precaution.
