Reece Barr expects weekend is over after Zandvoort Race 1 crash

Target Competition’s Reece Barr isn’t holding out much hope to be out in tomorrow afternoon’s race after a major crash at the start of Race 1 saw his Hyundai i30 N TCR sustain severe damage.

The Irishman locked wheels with the rival Hyundai of M1RA driver Daniel Nagy on the way to Turn 1 and launched across the track into the barriers on the left side of the track, with the front of his car taking the brunt of the impact.

“Nagy came up behind and just made a small touch and that upset the car on cold tyres and it just spun into the wall,” said Barr to TouringCarTimes.

“The car’s pretty bad so we’re not so sure we’ll get it out for tomorrow, but we’ll see what happens.

“We were on for a good race, we were pretty happy with where we were, and happy with the plan we had and we had (Dusan) Borkovic to follow.”
