Maxime Potty admits not having the pace to overtake Jean-Karl Vernay

Maxime Potty scored his maiden TCR Europe podium at his home track at Spa-Francorchamps. The Volkswagen driver was close to race winner Jean-Karl Vernay for the whole race, but didn’t quite have that extra quid to overtake his rival.

“Our performances were very close, even at the start,” said the Belgian to TouringCarTimes. “My car was very consistent and the tyres were in a good shape at the end, so I’m happy to that respect.”

Potty was on the limit, so he left no stones unturned to try to win his home race.

“This was the maximum I could do. I tried my best to overtake him, but it wasn’t enough to pass him. I’m just happy I was competitive enough to stay with him, it would have been nice to win on my home track but, like I said, this was as much as I could do. The championship starts here for me.”
