Tobias Brink says first victory is key to motivate team to fight on
Tobias Brink secured his and Brink Motorsport’s maiden Scandinavian Touring Car Championship victory in the second race of the weekend at Anderstorp, a victory that is key to motivate the team to fight on, according to the Audi driver.
“This is an amazing win, I can’t describe the feeling to deliver Brink Motorsport’s first victory. We have a team that puts down a massive amount of hours. We really needed this success to get the motivation needed to fight on. This is really, really nice,” said Brink.
The Brink Motorsport drivers showed strong form all weekend at Anderstorp but they were unable to materialise their pace in qualifying with Brink claiming eighth on the grid and team-mate Micke Ohlsson ninth.
“We were on pace in testing and qualifying but I made a mistake and had to settle for eighth,” said Brink.
Brink started third in the second reversed-grid race and made his way into the lead as Honda driver Mattias Andersson retired with a puncture.
“I was behind (Mattias) Andersson during the first part of the race and had started to plan a passing manoeuvre when he retired. We have made our way closer to the top of the STCC thanks to the winter testing and to get this reward is fantastic,” said Brink.
