Dan Lloyd “buzzing” after maiden win
Dan Lloyd admitted he was ‘buzzing’ after securing his maiden victory in the BTCC at Croft.
In only his second meeting with the BTC Norlin squad, Lloyd produced a strong performance on race day with a brace of top ten finishes in the opening two races providing him with the chance to benefit from the reverse grid draw.
Having been placed on pole for the final race, the current TCR UK points leader led from start-to-finish to secure his first victory in the series as well as the first for the team.
“It’s amazing and I’m buzzing for myself and the team,” Lloyd admitted. “It’s been hard since Oulton Park and we started on back foot in practice so to end the weekend with a win is unbelievable.
“I just took things race-by-race and the key was to stay out of trouble. Eleventh to eighth in race one was a good start and then we made the most of the hard tyre in race two to finish ninth.
“When we got the reverse grid, I knew I had a job to do and I’m glad I delivered. I couldn’t control what others would do so I focused on my own race and it all went to plan.”
Lloyd added that he hopes the first victory for the squad will now be a springboard for further success later in the year.
“I’d like to think we can win again,” he said. “We’re making improvements all the time and I keep getting comfortable in the car. It’s easy to forget that I’ve only had four days in the car, I haven’t even done shakedown, so there are things I’d love to test and develop during the summer. I see no reason why we can’t get even stronger.”
