Jack Goff heads second day of Snetterton test

Jack Goff set the pace for Eurotech on the second day of the two-day long BTCC test at Snetterton.

Seeking to bounce back from a tough weekend at Croft where he failed to score a point, Goff set his best time during the morning session having also run towards the sharp end of the times during Wednesday’s running.

A best lap of 1m 56.340s saw Goff end up two-tenths of a second clear of the Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra of Josh Cook, who only set timed laps during the morning session.

“Today was largely about long runs to be honest and not about our one-lap pace, but it’s always nice to be quickest,” Goff said. “Our race pace seems good – we did a couple of the longer distance runs and we were a chunk up by mid-distance, but then some of the others seemed to come back towards us late on. I’m sure it evens itself out but we’re there or thereabouts.”

Third quickest was Jake Hill, who spent a second day at the wheel of the AmD-run MG as both team and drive evaluate their options for the remainder of the season. Hill would end up 0.003s down on Cook during a morning on track before handing the car over to Clio Cup racer Mike Epps for the afternoon.

“I felt positive with the car and the team straight away,” Hill said. “I clicked with the car immediately, we made some changes and I found a big chunk of time. I was actually two tenths up on the next lap but nearly rolled the car by taking too much of the sausage kerbs!”

Colin Turkington was fourth quickest and best of the rear-wheel drive cars, with Adam Morgan and James Cole completing the top six.

Aside from Epps, VW Racing Cup driver Kenan Dole sampled the MG, with Dan Welch, Carl Boardley, Adam Hatfield and Jamie Bond all getting runs in he Team HARD Volkswagens.
