Salvatore Tavano takes Mugello pole position

Salvatore Tavano took a commanding pole position at Mugello as the Sicily-born driver enters his first TCR Italy weekend of the year, driving his Cupra alone, splitting up with Matteo Greco.

The SEAT Motorsport Italia driver will start alongside Pit Lane Competizioni’s Nicola Baldan, with fellow Hyundai driver Eric Scalvini in third.

Championship leader Luigi Ferrara will line up fourth in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta run by V-Action, ahead of Enrico Bettera in the best-place Audi in fifth and Honda driver José Rodrigues sixth.

Massimiliano Gagliano finished the session in seventh, which also hands him pole position in the DSG class ahead of fellow DSG-equipped Cupra driver Matteo Greco. Andrea Larini will start ninth in his Cupra, ahead of Marco Pellegrini who completes the top ten in his Hyundai i30 N TCR run by BRC Racing.

Misano race winner Jurgen Schmarl went no further than 13th in his Target Competition Honda.

The first race of the weekend is scheduled for 18:25 CEST today.
