Rob Austin leads Snetterton post-race penalty list

The action-packed Snetterton race weekend has seen four penalties handed out for incidents, with HMS Racing Alfa Romeo driver Rob Austin picking up his first two warnings of the season.

Austin picked up a verbal warning, but not a strike which would count towards a future grid penalty for race ban for qualifying, after he was deemed to have impeded Team BMR’s Ash Sutton on a hot lap.

The first race saw no penalties handed out, while AmD Tuning’s Ollie Jackson was given a verbal warning and his first strike of the season for contact with the Team Dynamics Honda of Matt Neal, though the incident actually saw Jackson forced to retire with damage.

Austin was found guilty of the causing a collision at the start of the race when he spun around Ciceley Racing’s Tom Oliphant, who was subsequently collected by Eurotech’s Brett Smith, with both retiring from the race and the safety car called. Austin was given a two-point endorsement and a formal reprimand for the incident.

Power Maxed Racing’s Senna Proctor was the final recipient of a penalty, when he was given a one-tenth of a second time penalty for having pushed his way past Ollie Jackson at the final corner of the Diamond Double race. The penalty drops him from tenth to 12th, but Proctor has not been given a strike for the incident, which is key as it would been his fourth strike and would have earned him a one race ban.
