Ash Sutton leads Pyro Honda 1-2 in second Oulton Park race

Ash Sutton has won the second race of the TCR UK Touring Car Championship weekend at Oulton Park for Pyro Motorsport, while Ollie Taylor’s second place sees him close to 93 points of Dan Lloyd in the standings.

Sutton led the way from the start in the Pyro Honda Civic TCR, while Lewis Kent held second in the Essex & Kent Motorsport Hyundai i30 N TCR, while Jessica Bäckman leapt to third in her WestCoast Racing Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR ahead of a slow-starting Cupra of Stewart Lines.

Bäckman was soon passed by Derek Palmer, who was making fast progress in the DPE Alfa Romeo, with Bäckman running wide and making light contact with Stewart Lines’ Cupra as she fell to sixth.

Palmer’s run lasted just five more laps, before he went off at Druids with an apparent technical issue, handing Lines third.

A lap later and championship leader Dan Lloyd, working his way forward from seventh on the grid in his WestCoast Volkswagen, attacked Lines for third with the two making light contact, with Lines going wide, but the incident allowed the Pyro Honda of Ollie Taylor through into third.

Taylor then closed on Kent and applied pressure to the Hyundai driver, who made an error at Druids on the final lap and ran wide, allowing Taylor through to second position, with Kent crossing the line third.

Lloyd finishes fourth, but will be visiting the stewards as he’s under investigation for the contact with Lines, while Jessica Bäckman finished the race in fifth position.

Lloyd continues to lead the championship, now 93 points clear of Taylor going to the next round of the championship at Croft on September 9th.
