Tomas Engström makes STCC comeback for Micke Kågered Racing
STCC veteran Tomas Engström is going to make his comeback in the Scandinavian championship at the next race at Karlskoga on August 18-19th for Micke Kågered Racing.
“After spending four years abroad in TCR International and the CTCC, I am glad to be able to present a comeback in Sweden and the STCC,” said Engström to TouringCarTimes.
Engström, who last raced in the STCC in 2013, is going to drive a Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR for Micke Kågered Racing.
”The STCC is on its way to become really good again and the competition is fierce. My mission is primarily to help the team develop the car,” said Engström.
The 54-year-old drove six races for Team Engstler in the 2015 TCR International Series, with sixth as best result before moving to the China Touring Car Championship in 2016 and 2017 with selected races for Haima Z1 Racing.
Engström is ranked fourth overall in respect of the most completed STCC races with 199 starts, and previously ran the importer-backed Honda STCC team.
