Philip Morin laments race-losing error in Karlskoga Race 1

Philip Morin says he regrets pushing his tyres too hard in the first race at the Gellerasen Arena, which cost the 22-year-old a potential second race victory in his PWR Racing Cupra TCR.

Morin led from pole position during the early phase of the race, but was pressured throughout by team-mate Daniel Haglöf for the first half of the race, before he went wide at Turn 1 on lap nine which allowed Haglöf through into the lead.

Morin was then left to defend second place against the KMS Volkswagen of Johan Kristoffersson for the final phase of the race, but held on to claim second.

“I had an OK start after I have had some problems with that previously this year,” said Morin.

“I had good pace initially, but Daniel was a bit stronger. I tried to increase my pace but while I did that I might have pushed my tyres a bit too hard. I made a mistake in the first turn that enabled Daniel to get past. We were still 1-2 and that is the most important thing.”
