Derek Palmer Jr to miss Croft TCR UK round due to lack of spares

Derek Palmer Jr has pulled out of this weekend’s TCR UK championship meeting at Croft after failing to source enough spare parts for his DPE Racing Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR.

The Scotsman, who claimed his best series result last time out at Oulton Park with fourth place, is the second DPE Alfa to miss the penultimate round after Robert Gilmour was forced out due to accident damage.

Palmer Jr also suffered damage to his car following a brake failure which put him out of the second race of the weekend at Oulton.

Palmer Jr’s withdrawal, and the subsequent reshuffle between Sean Walkinshaw and Andreas Bäckman, means that there will be just eight cars on the grid this weekend.

It is believed that Palmer had attempted to source spare parts from Alfa Romeo in Italy, but was unable to get the necessary parts in time to compete.

The team are working to make its return at the final round of the season at Donington Park next month.
