Cupra on maximum weight while Volkswagen’s is halved for Mantorp finale

The championship leading Cupra TCRs of PWR Racing will continue to carry the maximum compensation weight of 60kg at this weekend’s season finale at Mantorp Park, while the plentiful field of Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs will drop to 30kg from 60kg.

The rolling calculation hits the Cupras the hardest, after the PWR Racing team locked out a 1-2-3 in qualifying last time out at Rudskogen in Norway just over a week ago, while the KMS Volkswagen Golf of Johan Kristoffersson was the best-placed for the German marque, one spot behind them in fourth.

The wet weather conditions however played into the rallycross stars hands, as he worked his way forward to win both races and secured the fastest lap in Race 1, while PWR’s Philip Morin clocked the fastest lap in Race 2.

The weight difference between Cupra and Volkswagen will be 20kg when the TCR’s Balance of Performance measures are taken into account, while the cars running with no ballast will again be the Honda Civic TCR of Mattias Andersson and the Audi RS 3 LMSs of Brovallendesign and Brink Motorsport, with the Audi technically the lightest on 1,255kg, compared to the heaviest car, the Cupra, on 1,305kg.
