Mikel Azcona confident ahead of Barcelona

Mikel Azcona finished fifth in the second race at Monza, Italy, which brought his advantage over second-placed Jean-Karl Vernay to 19 points, as opposed to being seconds two points off the lead before the weekend. The PCR Sport driver feels he is in the best possible place, also psychologically, ahead of the season finale on his home soil.

“I feel fantastic because we’re leading the championsihp with 19 points ahead of the second-placed driver, so it’s good psychologically for the final round,” said the Spaniard to TouringCarTimes. “We need to work hard to find a good setup for Barcelona, but I think we will be ok as it is our home track.”

Despite his confidence, Azcona insisted he is not taking anything for granted.

“Anything can happen because we don’t know the level of the others in Barcelona. We know we will be fast and I know the track, but it depends a lot on what happens during the weekend. I’m confident anyway.”
