Josh Price wins the final round of the TCR UK championship at Donington Park

Josh Price has taken a dominant victory in the final round of the 2018 TCR UK Touring Car Championship at Donington Park, leading by 18 seconds in a busy final race, with Stewart Lines and Dan Lloyd completing the podium.

Price’s Pyro Motorsport team repaired his car after a fuel pump issue in Race 1 to allow him to start on the outside of the front row behind Maximum Motorsport’s Carl Swift, and the Honda Civic driver drove into the lead around the outside of Redgate into the lead and quickly began building a lead over the rest of the pack.

Behind the race was action-heavy, with Essex & Kent Motorsport’s Lewis Kent running wide at Redgate in his Hyundai i30 N TCR and dropped to the back of the pack.

The Pyro Honda Civic FK8 of Ollie Taylor was picking his way forward until lap two, when he tried to pass his team-mate Finlay Crocker at Coppice and the two made contact, with Taylor dropping to ninth, and would eventually recover to finish sixth.

Newly-crowned champion Dan Lloyd slowly worked his way forward, despite losing a spot when his WestCoast Racing Volkswagen was hit by by Kent’s Hyundai on lap two and dropped back to eighth, but Lloyd managed to make his way all the way to third position, with his final pass taking place on the penultimate lap when he overtook his team-mate Andreas Bäckman.

Stewart Lines battled through despite briefly falling behind Bäckman to pass both the Swede and his own team-mate Swift’s Cupra, with Swift losing pace late in the race and dropping from second to eighth.

Price went on to win in dominant fashion, with three seconds covering second to sixth, but with Price a sizable 18 seconds clear on his TCR UK championship return.

The race, also shortened to 15-minutes due to various delays, concludes the inaugural TCR UK championship season, with the 2019 calendar soon to be announced.
