Test day and season launch times confirmed for TCR Australia

The second season of the TCR Australia Racing Series will officially commence later this month at Winton Motor Raceway with an open test day, allowing the public to see the stars and their cars free of charge.

Launching the sophomore year of the popular category, all TCR Australia teams will be present at the test, occuring on the 26th of February, three weekends before the championship gets underway in Melbourne.

Entry to the test will be free for fans who want to go along to watch as the category adds an incentive for punters to come along, offering the chance for three people to win hot laps on the day.

As well as giving teams a chance to shake down their 2020 challengers, it’ll give the field the opportunity to unveil their fresh liveries for the year before the opening round.

TCR Australia’s category manager, Liam Curkpatrick, says the all-inclusive launch before the start of the season will allow the second year to be launched in a unified way for all teams.

“Many of our TCR teams are planning to do some of their own testing, however, this will be the one and only time that all of the cars will be together prior to the Grand Prix event,” said Curkpatrick.

“Our pre-season test this year worked really well, and at that stage, some of the cars had only just come off aeroplanes. With more planning and a full year under our belts, the Winton test will be a great way to launch the 2020 season and I’d expect close to 30 cars being on track.”

Gates open at 0730 on Feb 26 with cars on track from 0900 to 1630, allowing teams and fans over seven hours of track time during the day.
