Motorsport Australia suspend championships until further notice

The opening round of the 2020 TCR Australia series has been delayed after Motorsport Australia announced that racing will be on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Motorsport Australia’s decision was made in conjunction with Sydney Motorsport Park and the Australian Racing Group who were promoting the first round of the TCR Australia season.

Championships director Michael Smith said that the governing body will work with the different categories to find a suitable date in the future.

“We are working with all circuits and our categories to determine how we can move forward together and ensure we have a strong finish to 2020,” Smith said.

“We hope to be able to share a revised calendar very soon, as we work through what is a very challenging and unique situation. We are looking forward to being able to go racing once it is appropriate to do so.”

Motorsport Australia’s decision came on the same day that Supercars announced the upcoming Tasmanian, New Zealand and Perth rounds would be delayed until later in the year.
