Shane van Gisbergen grabs shootout pole for Eseries start at Bathurst

Round three of the Supercars All Stars Eseries is set to get underway at the Mount Panorama Circuit with 2014 Bathurst 1000 pole sitter Shane van Gisbergen taking pole after a Top Ten Shootout session.

The Triple Eight driver and 2016 series champion is still yet to add a race win at Bathurst in a Supercar to his CV but his impressive lap in the shootout will give him as good of a shot as ever as he pipped wildcard entrant Brodie Kostecki to the top spot by just 0.009 of a second.

Kostecki was on provisional pole but only just missed out on converting it to the real thing, having tonnes of simulator experience and being Supercars’ chosen driver to dial in the setups for the pack to use. His Enduro Cup co-driver, Erebus Motorsport’s Anton de Pasquale, was able to secure third after himself blitzing the pack.

Starting from fourth will be 2014 Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert in the Walkinshaw Andretti United Commodore while wildcard entrant Will Power is the highest placed Ford driver, taking fifth. The former Indycar champion and 2018 Indy 500 winner currently leads the Indycar iRacing Challenge and make his last start at the Bathurst 1000 with Larkham Motorsport, tonight racing for Team Penske.

Andre Heimgartner, Nick Percat, series leader Scott McLaughlin, wildcard Super2 driver Thomas Randle and Bryce Fullwood complete the first five rows. Three races and compulsory pit stops will be the highlights of tonight’s action.
