Michelle Gatting to guest star in inaugural TCR Denmark race weekend

ELMS and Le Mans racer Michelle Gatting will join the grid in a one-off appearance during next week’s TCR Denmark season opener. She will race alongside Michael Markussen in a Peugeot 308TCR.

Gatting, who made her Le Mans 24H debut last year, is signed up for a full season with the Iron Lynx team in European Le Mans Series.

”It will be a one-off – at least this year. We are lacking a bit behind on testing, but the goal is none the less to be in the top next weekend,” she says.

Gatting raced two seasons in the DTM support class Volkswagen Scirocco R Cup from 2012 to 2013, which means front-wheel driven cars is no new territory to her.

Still, there is quite a leap from the Ferrari 488 GTE that she races in the ELMS:

”I don’t think I have ever raced in a Peugeot before, but I remember a lot from the Scirocco series a while ago,” said Gatting.

“It will definitely be something else compared to the Ferrari I race in the ELMS, but I am really looking forward to racing it, and I have been told that these cars get away quite well.”

Having raced in both the Danish Thundersport Championship and the Supertourisme series in recent years, finding her way around the Jyllandsringen circuit won’t be much of a hassle for the 26-year-old racing driver.

Gatting will do a shakedown of the Peugeot 308TCR at Jyllandsringen next week prior to the race weekend.
