TCR announce Balance of Performance changes

The technical department of the WSC Group has announced changes to TCR’s Balance of Performance ahead of the resumption of the 2020 season.

The changes relate to the weights of the various cars and have been made so that cars that are unable to achieve the minimum racing weight are not unfairly penalised.

As a result, the new range for the minimum racing weight will now run from -10kg to +70kg rather than 0kg to 60kg, with all cars being handed a 20kg increase – leaving the Hyundai i30 N, Hyundai Veloster N and Lynk & Co 03 as the heaviest cars at 1,325kg and the Peugeot 308 Racing Cup as the lightest car at 1,185kg.

All cars will start the season at 0kg compensation weight, which will then be modified after each event up to a maximum of 40kg, although that may be modified once the 2020 Balance of Performance tests have been finalised.
