Kasper H. Jensen wins first ever TCR Denmark race

Kasper H. Jensen claimed the first win of the TCR Denmark series season opener at Jyllandsringen, leading the race from start to the finish line behind the wheel of his Massive Motorsport prepared Honda Civic Type-R TCR.

There were no real battles at the front of the pack; Martin Andersen and Jan Magnussen kept a safe distance to each other and the leading Honda, crossing the finish line in second and third position.

Nicolai Sylvest and Kenn Bach were both penalised with drive through penalties for false starts. Sylvest fought back and challenged Peugeot driver Michael Markussen for fourth position with a few close encounters along the way, but had to settle for fifth.

Both Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR drivers saw strong improvements during the race with Kristian Sætheren finishing sixth ahead of Cupra driver Kim Lund Johansen of Madbull Racing, with the two battling throughout the race.

Insight Racing driver Jacob Mathiassen, who missed yesterday’s qualifying due to a technical issue, climbed from 14th to eighth position, awarding him with the reversed grid pole position for Race 2, scheduled for 15:55 CEST.

The Volkswagen duo of René Povlsen and Allan Kristensen rounded off the top ten.

UPDATE: Kim Lund Johansen was handed a time penalty for exceeding track limits, dropping him from seventh to eleventh position.
