Jan Magnussen claims TCR Denmark pole position at Ring Djursland

Jan Magnussen claimed pole position for the first TCR Denmark race of 2021 at Ring Djursland, heading an LM Motorsport 1-2 with team-mate Nicolai Sylvest.

“I am really happy and relieved that it was not just a fluke that we were fastest in pre-season testing,” said Magnussen.

“We have worked really hard to get everything to work since then and a lot has been changed since the test. And there is no better way to say thank you to the team than claiming pole.”

Magnussen claimed pole with a lap time of 50.464 seconds, beating Sylvest with two tenths and Peugeot driver Casper Elgaard by three tenths.

Reigning champion Kasper Jensen was fourth fastest behind the wheel of his Massive Motorsport-prepared Honda, close to half a second slower than Magnussen.

Jacob Mathiassen claimed position five for Insight Racing, lapping the circuit in 51.019 seconds.

Peugeot driver Michael Markussen rounded off the top six.

The first of three races starts at 09:50 CEST tomorrow.
