Jake Hill ends Silverstone weekend with victory

Jake Hill ended the Silverstone weekend on a high with a second win in as many weekends for MB Motorsport.

Dan Lloyd started the race from pole position and the Power Maxed Racing driver was able to lead the field on the run to Copse for the first time ahead of Hill’s Ford Focus, with Stephen Jelley jumping up into third spot as Jason Plato was slower away from the front row.

Lloyd would remain out front through the early stages of the race but had Hill swarming all over the rear of his Vauxhall – the lead pair breaking away from Chris Smiley’s Hyundai, which had cleared Plato on lap one and then dived past Jelley’s BMW at Copse on lap four.

Hill would eventually managed to nose the Focus down the inside on the exit of Luffield on lap ten and completed the move going into Copse to start the next lap and the MB Motorsport driver held on for the remainder of the race to secure his second win in as many meetings.

Lloyd would come back at him towards the end but then dropped back in the final two laps towards Ash Sutton, who had come through the pack onto the podium with a series of strong moves at the end of the lap to clear Jelley and Smiley.

Sutton would cross the line in third ahead of Smiley, who managed to fend off Jelley in the final stages, with Plato having to settle for sixth place.

Aiden Moffat maintained his recent strong form with seventh in the second Infiniti, with Colin Turkington recovering from a tough start that saw him slip outside the top ten to recover through to eighth place at the finish.

Dan Rowbottom and Ollie Jackson would then round out the top ten.

After his two earlier wins, Rory Butcher had to settle for 13th place in the Toyota, just behind Tom Ingram who had scored two podiums in the earlier two races.

Josh Cook however could only get up to 18th after his race two exclusion and failed to score.
