Santiago Urrutia storms to Race 1 win at Alta Gracia

Santiago Urrutia charged through the field to win the first TCR South America race of the weekend at Alta Gracia’s Autódromo Oscar Cabalén ahead of championship leader Pepe Oriola.

PMO Motorsport driver Urrutia started ninth on the reversed grid but made his way into the lead on lap three, passing leading driver Oriola who had started third.

Audi driver Adalberto Baptista started from the reversed grid pole but soon fell down the order to finish eighth.

José Manuel Sapag of Squadra Martino fought hard to keep third place in a tough fight with Lynk & Co driver Fabricio Pezzini and Cobra Racing driver Rodrigo Baptista.

Urrutia won the 17-lap race with a margin of one second ahead of Oriola.

Sapag claimed the final podium position, just one tenth of a second ahead of Pezzini who secured fourth position.

Rodrigo Baptista rounded off the top five for Cobra Racing while the Honda duo of Raphael Reis and Matías Cravero.

The second race of the weekend starts at 10:00 local time/14:00 CET.
