Team Sydney sold and renamed PremiAir Racing

Team Sydney has been sold to PremiAir Racing, with PremiAir Hire managing director Peter Xiberras leading the new team.

“It’s daunting, and there are a lot of mixed emotions,” said Xiberras to supercars.com.

“There’s a lot to do in a short time frame, we are kind of still piecing it all together. Sometimes you can achieve in six weeks what would have taken you 12 months if you’ve got a tight deadline to work to.

“But what is comforting for me, is that I’ve been involved with the team over the past few years, and I have seen how it works, so I am really excited to get involved and push the team forward.”

Xiberras takes over the team, which was previously named Tekno Autosports, from previous owners Jonathon and Kobe Webb.

“Kobe and I are grateful that Peter Xiberras and PremiAir Hire will continue to build Team Sydney within the Supercars Championship.” said Jonathan Webb.

“We are thankful for the support and friendships we have welcomed over the past 12 years of racing – significantly Tony Quinn, Triple 8, KRE, ARDC, Steve Hallam, Dr. Geoffrey Slater, Mick Shortus (our first employee who remained with us for our entire Supercars journey), and many more.

“Thank you to our Drivers, crew, and families. We look forward to seeing what the 2022 season brings for all involved- all the best.”

The team will change location from Sydney to a yet to be confirmed city, with Xiberras namimng Melbourne and Brisbane as the main candidates
