TCR South America field completes pre-season test at Velocitta

The first official TCR South America pre-season test of the season has been completed at Autodromo Velocitta in Brazil, the circuit that will host the season opener in April.

Five teams were present during the test, including Scureria CJ, MC Tubarao, Cobra Racing Team, PropCar and Crown Racing.

Lap times were not released from the test day, but last year’s runner-up Adalberto Baptista was pleased with his performance.

“It’s great to be back on track and we were able to pick up the pace during the test. It was a fruitful day and we gathered important information ahead of the season start,” said Baptista.

Also present was recently confirmed TCR South America debutant Gabriel Lusquiños, driving a Crown Racing prepared Honda Civic Type R TCR.

“It was an experience unlike anything I’m used to,” said Lusquiños.

“I’ve raced rear-wheel drive cars for ten years and have only done few races with front-wheel drive cars. It was a day of adaptation, not only with the car, but with the entire team structure. We suffered a bit at the beginning, which is natural in the process, but we understood each other throughout the day.”
