Anthony Reid and Jason Minshaw share Silverstone Classic Touring Car wins

Anthony Reid, Nissan, and Jason Minshaw, Volvo, claimed one win each in the opening round of the Classic Touring Car Racing Club Super Touring Series at Silverstone.

Minshaw put his ex-Rickard Rydell Volvo S40 on pole position, beating Reid by three tenths of a second and 1995 BTCC champion John Cleland by six tenths.

The first race saw Minshaw winning in style, crossing the finishing line by a massive 17 seconds over Vauxhall Cavalier driver Tony Absolom.

Cleland and Reid were victims of technical issues with their Super Tourers, having been involved in a close top fight, only to retire on lap 11 and 12 respectively.

Colin Turkington was also a retirement in the first race due to a technical issue with his BTC specification MG ZS.

The second race saw revenge for Reid who won the race just 0.270 seconds ahead of Volvo driver Minshaw and 0.628 seconds ahead of Vauxhall Vectra driver Cleland.

The next Classic Touring Car Racing Club Super Touring Series will take place at Oulton Park on May 28th.
