Kasper Jensen dominates Padborg Park opener

Reigning champion Kasper Jensen dominated the first TCR Denmark race of 2022 at Padborg Park ahead of Cupra driver Michael Markussen

Jensen started his Honda from pole position, made a strong start and never looked back, winning the race by over eight seconds.

Jensen’s GMB Motorsport team-mate Gustav Birch started second, a position he kept until two laps from the end when a technical issue dropped him to ninth position.

This meant that Cupra driver Michael Markussen inherited second place, having to defend from TPR Motorsport driver Mike Halder towards the end.

Halder started third but bogged down at the start, dropping to fifth position.

The German driver soon caught Cupra driver Nicolai Sylvest, making the move for fourth position at the start of lap two.

Halder then chased down Markussen, but never got close enough to seriously challenge for second place and the duo claimed the final two podium positions.

Sylvest finished fourth for Green Development, with Alfa Romeo driver Jacob Mathiassen and Rene Povlsen, driving a new generation Audi RS 3 LMS, rounded off the top six.

The second race of the weekend is scheduled for 14:15 CEST.
